Dr. Kristen Vincent is a Dewey Beach native and enjoys practicing specialized Optometry locally. She provides a unique vision evaluation, one that includes a comprehensive assessment of visual information processing, eye teaming, eye tracking, eye focusing, depth perception, and other visual skills. Vision encompasses so much more than being able to read the 20/20 line on the eye chart, which is a measure of your Visual Acuity. Functional Vision is how your entire visual system- the eyes, the brain, the visual pathways- work together to help you interact with your environment. Functional vision can be affected developmentally, or acquired from neurological causes.
Dr. Vincent has been practicing for over 7 years in private practice, and is now eager to offer the unique specialty service of Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation in a multidisciplinary setting at Delaware NeuroRehab. She is excited to join the team and continue her passion of helping others utilize one of their most important senses, vision, especially after brain injury. In addition to post-traumatic vision syndrome, her primary interest is in the assessment and management of learning-related vision problems, amblyopia, and strabismus. Her main goal is to enhance the patient’s whole visual system through the application of lenses, prism, and therapeutic intervention to improve functional visual skills and lessen symptoms, thus creating better academic or occupational success and/or quality of life.
Dr. Vincent earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a Minor in Studio Art at High Point University, North Carolina in 2012. She continued her higher education at Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University where she earned her Doctorate of Optometry with Clinical Honors in 2017. She completed an Advanced Pediatrics and Binocular Vision internship at The Eye Institute in Philadelphia. After graduation, Dr. Vincent completed a Residency in Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation, with a focus on pediatrics.
She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, and a member of the American Optometric Association, Delaware Optometric Association, and Optometric Vision Development & Rehabilitation Association.
She is very active in the community and collaborates often with local schools, pediatricians, occupational therapists, reading specialists, and neurologists. You will most likely find Dr. Vincent at the beach, park, playground, or spending time at home with her husband (Jason), two young sons (Kai and Reef), and dog (Roxy). Her interests include traveling, hiking, live music, and family activities.
Dr. Vincent is compassionate and determined to help patients overcome visual challenges. She strives to make learning fun or activities of daily living more enjoyable through a program of Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation with this dedicated team!
