Haresh Sampathkumar

Haresh Sampathkumar, MD, is the Medical Director at Delaware NeuroRehab in Dover, Wilmington and Newark, Delaware. With subspecialty training in Brain Injury Medicine, Dr. Sampathkumar treats the entire spectrum of severity of brain injuries from concussions to coma (AKA Disorders of Consciousness). Due to the complex physical, cognitive, social, and behavioral issues resulting from brain injuries, he uses a coordinated interdisciplinary team approach by collaborating with a group of therapy professionals such as Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, Neuropsychologists, prescribing medications, and performing injections for pain and spasticity relief. Some of the injections include but are not limited to botox, phenol nerve blocks, and baclofen pump management.

 

Dr. Haresh Sampathkumar completed his medical training at Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, Chennai, in 2011. He completed an internal medicine internship in 2014 at Unity Health System in Rochester, New York, followed by Residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in 2017 at New York Medical College/Metropolitan Hospital Center, New York. He then completed his fellowship training in Brain Injury Medicine in 2018 at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston/TIRR Memorial Hermann, Houston, Texas.

 

Dr. Sampathkumar is also the co-founder of JH Rehabilitation, a comprehensive rehabilitation center in Chennai, India, which offers services for individuals with brain injuries and other neurological conditions. He is a Board member at the Brain Injury Associate of Delaware (BIADE). Aside from raising awareness about Brain Injuries in the community, he is interested in improving the standard of care for patients with Acquired Brain Injuries by collaborating with private, government organizations and colleagues in healthcare. He is particularly interested in empowering individuals with Acquired Brain Injuries to control and direct their own life by independently participating in activities including education and meaningful employment.
